Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Ljubljana
Welcome to Slovenia! Enjoy your first day of the Slovenia road trip by exploring our beautiful boutique capital Ljubljana, enjoy its relaxing yet vibrant atmosphere, and visit some of its most notable highlights like the Ljubljana Castle, Ljubljana Old Town, Dragon Bridge, and the famous Triple Bridge.
Day 2 - Ljubljana – Bled
In the morning, drive to one of the most picturesque places in the world, the beautiful Bled, where you’ll spend the night. Visit its stunning lake island with a church, hike to the Bled Castle for the panoramic views, stroll around the lake, and enjoy a delicious lunch in one of the numerous restaurants, where you have to try the world-famous cream cake. In the vicinity of Bled, is the largest Slovenian glacial lake, Lake Bohinj, and the incredible Vintgar Gorge – we definitely recommend you make a visit to both landmarks if your time allows.
Day 3 - Bled – Bovec
From Bled, drive to Bovec, a small alpine town also referred to as the “outdoor capital of Slovenia”. En route, stop at the highest mountain pass in Slovenia, Vršič, and marvel at the incredible panoramic views. From Vršič, head toward the lush Soča Valley and explore its incredible highlights, such as the Soča River spring, Velika Korita, and the Šunik Water Grove (Šunikov vodni gaj). After arriving in Bovec, indulge in adventurous outdoor activities, such as rafting, ziplining, supping, or kayaking.
Day 4 - Bovec – Goriška Brda
Leave the alpine landscape behind and head toward the renowned wine region Goriška Brda. Enjoy its beautiful landscape, characterized by green hills, orchards, and vineyards. En route to Goriška Brda, make a short detour and visit two outstanding highlights, the Kozjak Waterfall and the breathtaking Tolmin Gorge. Optional activities: In Goriška Brda, you can go for a wine tasting of some of the best Slovenian wines, or take a scenic bike ride through the vineyards. If either option interests you, please let us know so we can arrange it for you.
Day 5 - Goriška Brda – Piran
From Goriška Brda, drive toward the coastal town of Piran. En route, stop at two iconic attractions. First is the 800-year-old Predjama Castle, the only fully preserved cave castle in Europe and the largest cave castle in the world. Afterward, explore the world-famous karst cave system, Postojna Cave, one of the most visited show caves in the world. Join a guided tour and explore its intricate stalactites and stalagmites aboard an underground train. In the afternoon, drive toward Piran and conclude the day with a stroll through the historic city center or a relaxing walk along its waterfront.
Day 6 - Departure, or optional visit to Sečovlje Salt Pans
Enjoy your last moments in Piran before departing, or prolong your adventure with a morning visit to Sečovlje Salt Pans. This historically significant attraction is renowned for its 700-year-old salt production methods and biodiversity.
