Itinerary

Day 1 - Lake Bohinj – Uskovnica

Distance: 8 km

Elevation gain: 630 m

Descent: 15 m

Your starting point for the Triglav National Park hike is the largest Slovenian glacial lake, Lake Bohinj. Soak in its mesmerizing beauty before you trek toward the high-altitude plateau, Uskovnica. The trail toward the Uskovnica Mountain Hut, where you’ll spend the first night, will take you through some of the most beautiful areas of the Bohinj Valley.

Day 2 - Uskovnica – Vodnik Hut

Distance: 8.1 km

Elevation gain: 730 m

Descent: 50 m

Today’s destination is one of the most popular mountain huts in Slovenia, Vodnik Hut (Vodnikov dom). It lies at an altitude of approximately 1.817 m and takes its name after a renowned Slovenian poet and linguist, Valentin Vodnik. While the hut and the incredible nature offer an authentic alpine experience, the journey there is no less incredible. It will lead you through scenic alpine landscapes, making this hike a highly memorable experience.

Day 3 - Vodnik Hut – Mountain Hut at Triglav Lakes

Distance: 11.7 km

Elevation gain: 650 m

Descent: 780 m

From Vodnik Hut, head toward the mountain hut at Triglav Lakes. This popular lodge is located in the Triglav Lakes Valley, one of the most beautiful natural landmarks in Slovenia and home to the seven glacial lakes. The route to the hut runs through rugged terrain and offers some of the best views you can experience in the Julian Alps.

Day 4 - Mountain Hut at Triglav Lakes – Dom na Komni

Distance: 7.3 km

Elevation gain: 250 m

Descent: 420 m

Dom na Komni awaits you! In the morning, set out on the beautiful hiking route overlooking the Triglav lakes. You’ll traverse alpine meadows and pine forests before reaching the cozy mountain hut Dom na Komni, where you’ll spend the night. For those seeking an extra thrill, there are several additional trails to explore before reaching your destination.

Day 5 - Dom na Komni – Vogel

Distance: 12.9 km

Elevation gain: 670 m

Descent: 660 m

On the last stage of your Triglav National Park hike, take the scenic path from Dom na Komni to the popular mountain resort Vogel. Enjoy the awe-inspiring views of the Julian Alps and Lake Bohinj before taking the cable car to Ukanc and concluding this alpine experience.
