During the six days of this self-guided adventure, you will explore some of the most popular places in Slovenia. From the vibrant capital Ljubljana, you'll pedal to the world-famous cave complex Postojnska jama (Postojna Cave). En route, you’ll enjoy the stunning karst landscape and learn about the rich Slovenian honey-making tradition. Your tour will conclude with a visit to Opatija, famous for its splendid villas and beautiful waterfront promenade.
The Opatija, Postojna and Ljubljana bike tour is suitable for moderately experienced and physically fit cyclists but can be adjusted to suit your preferences and level of fitness.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Ljubljana
Start your bike tour in Ljubljana, the green capital of Slovenia. Experience its relaxed atmosphere, fall in love with the historic city center, and explore the amazing sights, from the Ljubljana Castle to Dragon Bridge and Tivoli Park. If you’re coming to Slovenia without a bike, we can arrange bike rental and delivery for you, so please let us know your preferences when booking the tour. Upon your request, the bikes will be delivered to you on the day of your arrival. Also, please let us know if you need assistance with your transfers.
Day 2 - Ljubljana - Postojna Cave

Time to hit the road! Start the day by cycling from Ljubljana to Postojna, a true treasure trove of karst wonders, most notably the spectacular Postojna Cave.
Day 3 - Postojna Cave - Ilirska Bistrica
Distance: 34 km
Elevation gain: 300 m
Descent: 430 m
Spend the morning exploring the wonders of the world-famous Postojnska jama (Postojna Cave). Immerse yourself in its vast network of karst corridors, galleries, and halls, which you can visit with a special tourist train. Afterward, head toward the town of Ilirska Bistrica where you’ll spend the night.
Day 4 - Bela Kapa - Secrets on the way to the sea
Take a short break from cycling and enjoy a day off at Bela Kapa. Bela Kapa is an eco-tourism resort located in the heart of Slovenia’s karst region, blending historical heritage with modern practices. Spend the day exploring pristine nature and local attractions. Included in this tour is the guided honey-tasting experience and a visit to the bee family where you can learn about the Slovenian bee-keeping tradition.
Day 5 - Ilirska Bistrica - Opatija

The bike tour from Ljubljana to Opatija is nearing its final destination. Hop on your bicycle, cross the Slovenia-Croatia border, and ride to the coastal city of Opatija. This renowned wellness destination also known as “the pearl of Adriatic”, will impress you with its magnificent villas, parks, and a relaxed atmosphere.
Day 6 - Depart or enjoy an extra day
