This Alps Cycling Tour will take you to some of the most beautiful corners of Slovenia. Get ready for breathtaking views and fascinating nature as you explore the fairy-tale Pokljuka Plateau, ride through the beautiful valleys of Radovna and Soča, and visit the charming alpine towns of Kranjska Gora and Bovec.
This dynamic Alps Cycling Tour is full of climbs and descents and is especially suitable for physically fit and experienced cyclists. Upon your request, it can be adjusted to suit your preferences and level of fitness.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Bohinjska Bistrica
Your Alps Cycling Tour starts in Bohinjska Bistrica, the largest village in the scenic Bohinj Valley. After arriving there, take time to explore the wonderful nature, relax at the nearby Lake Bohinj, or prepare for the exciting trip ahead. If you’re coming to Slovenia without a bike, we can arrange bike rental and delivery for you, so please let us know your preferences when booking the tour. Upon your request, the bikes will be delivered to you on the day of your arrival. Also, please let us know if you need assistance with your transfers.
Day 2 - Bohinjska Bistrica - Goreljek
Distance: 30 km
Elevation gain: 1.07 m
Descent: 320 m
The first stage of the cycling tour will take you to Goreljek, a village located at the beautiful Pokljuka Plateau. Prepare for a challenging ascent with magnificent views of the surrounding Alps.
Day 3 - Goreljek - Kranjska Gora
Distance: 43 km
Elevation gain: 540 m
Descent: 1015 m
From Goreljek, ride through the wonderful Radovna Valley toward the alpine town of Kranjska Gora. The valley is located at the edge of the Triglav National Park and is known for its pristine nature and stunning landscapes, making this cycling stage an unforgettable experience. Finish this leg of the trip with a descent to Kranjska Gora, and enjoy your evening at the stunning Lake Jasna.
Day 4 - Kranjska Gora - Bovec
Distance: 46 km
Elevation gain: 1050 m
Descent: 1380 m
Start cycling from Kranjska Gora to Bovec, a friendly little town in one of the most beautiful valleys in Europe, Soča Valley. En route to Bovec, make a detour to Šunik Water Grove (Šunikov vodni gaj) and enjoy its mesmerizing natural pools and waterfalls.
Day 5 - Bovec - Tolmin
Distance: 38 km
Elevation gain: 400 m
Descent: 660 m
After a restful sleep, continue your bike tour from Bovec to Tolmin, home to the breathtaking Tolmin Gorge. This moderately demanding stage will enable you to enjoy Soča Valley to the fullest. For an additional highlight, make a stop at the stunning Kozjak Waterfall.
Day 6 - Tolmin - Most na Soči - Bohinjska Bistrica
Distance: 59 km
Elevation gain: 1560 m
Descent: 1240 m
On the last stage of this Alps Cycling Tour, return to Bohinjska Bistrica where you’ll spend one more night before departing. You can either cycle from Tolmin over Soriška Planina or, if you’re feeling a bit tired, you can take the train directly to Bohinjska Bistrica.
Day 7 - Time to say goodbye
Soak in the last bits of the stunning natural beauty surrounding you before departing from Bohinjska Bistrica. Please let us know if you need any help with the return transfers. We are happy to assist you!
