Itinerary
Day 1 - Rudno polje – Vodnik Hut
Distance: 9 km
Elevation gain: 670 m
Descent: 180 m
Your Alps hiking tour starts at Rudno Polje. This mountain plateau is part of Pokljuka, known for its wonderful nature and authentic alpine landscape. From Rudno Polje, hike toward Vodnik Hut, a mountain cottage where you’ll spend the night. This route is one of the most popular among hikers and will reward you with lush green forests and glorious views of Slovenia’s highest mountain, Triglav.
Day 2 - Vodnik Hut – Triglav Lakes Lodge
Distance: 11.7 km
Elevation gain: 660 m
Descent: 780 m
Continue your Julian Alps hike with a scenic ascent toward the Seven Triglav Lakes. The trail will lead you through the gorgeous alpine landscape, enchanting you with alpine meadows, forests, and fantastic views of the magnificent mountain peaks. The hike will conclude with a descent into the Valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes, the highlight of the Triglav National Park and one of the most beautiful alpine valleys in the Julian Alps. Spend the night in the cozy Triglav Lakes Lodge.
Day 3 - Triglav Lakes Lodge – Lake Bohinj
Distance: 13.4 km
Elevation gain: 75 m
Descent: 1230 m
Wake up with the view of the captivating Triglav Lakes, then continue your journey toward Lake Bohinj. En route, visit another alpine lake, Jezero na Planini pri jezeru. Unwind and enjoy the beauty of the alpine landscape covered with shepherd’s huts. Afterward, continue toward the final destination of this Julian Alps hike, the largest glacial lake in Slovenia, Lake Bohinj. Upon arriving there, take a few moments to marvel at the serene water and the surrounding mountain peaks before concluding your alpine adventure.
