Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Ljubljana
Start your Slovenia road trip in the boutique capital with a green heart – Ljubljana. Take your time to explore the most iconic Ljubljana sights, stroll along the Ljubljanica River, fall in love with the historic city center, and explore attractions like Ljubljana Castle, Triple Bridge, and Tivoli Park. Please let us know if you need assistance with your transfer to Ljubljana.
Day 2 - Explore Ljubljana, drive to Velika Planina
Spend the morning exploring Ljubljana’s highlights and hidden gems, and enjoy its relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere. In the afternoon, swap the bustling streets of Ljubljana for the serenity of nature. Head toward Velika Planina, one of the most memorable mountain plateaus in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps renowned for its stunning nature, vast pastures, and the traditional shepherd’s huts. Here, you’ll spend the night in a cozy mountain accommodation, waking up to incredible scenery.
Day 3 - Enjoy Velika Planina
It’s time for the Velika Planina hike! Explore some of the many scenic trails available, and enjoy the picturesque landscape full of shepherd’s huts and grazing cattle. Make sure to visit one of the huts to try the flavorful dairy products or other local delicacies.
Day 4 - From Velika Planina to Logar Valley
After a day spent hiking in Velika Planina, drive to Logar Valley (Logarska Dolina), one of the most stunning glacial valleys in Europe. Due to its tectonic and glacier past, it is full of natural phenomena such as waterfalls, glacier formations, natural windows, karst caves, etc. The drive there is a treat on its own, as it takes you through the scenic landscape.
Day 5 - Spend your day at Logar Valley
Spend the entire day in Logar Valley and explore its stunning natural attractions and diverse flora and fauna. Hike to the Rinka Waterfall, visit the Okrešelj Glaciar Amphitheater, trek through the nature park, or explore other highlights of this incredible valley.
Day 6 - Departure
Enjoy your last morning in the embrace of beautiful nature, then head back to Ljubljana for departure. Alternatively, you can extend your stay and enjoy this stunning valley for a few extra days.
