This is a self-guided tour, which allows you to go at your own pace and immerse yourself in the natural and cultural wonders of your choice. Like all our cycling tours, it is tailor-made, so we can adjust it perfectly to your preferences.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Ljubljana
Start your Slovenia bike tour in Ljubljana, one of the most charming and popular Slovenian destinations. Experience its relaxed atmosphere, fall in love with the historic city center, and explore the amazing sights, from the Ljubljana Castle to Dragon Bridge and Tivoli Park. If you are coming to Slovenia without a bike, we can arrange bike rental and delivery for you, so please let us know your preferences when booking the tour. Upon your request, the bikes will be delivered to you on the day of your arrival. Also, please let us know if you need assistance with your transfers.
Day 2 - Ljubljana - Rakitna
Distance: 43 km
Elevation gain: 800 m
Descent: 300 m
It’s time to stretch your legs! Start the day by cycling from Ljubljana to Rakitna, a village in the heart of the Karst plateau with a pristine lake. The route to your destination will inspire you with its scenic countryside and beautiful nature.
Day 3 - Rakitna - Postojna
Distance: 35 km
Elevation gain: 420 m
Descent: 680 m
From Rakitna, head to the town of Postojna. Postojna is known for its fantastic underworld treasures, most notably its world-famous Postojna Cave. On the way there, you’ll have the opportunity to visit another natural wonder, Rakov Škocjan, which will captivate you with its unique karst landscape.
Day 4 - Postojna - Štanjel
Distance: 38 km
Elevation gain: 520 m
Descent: 700 m
Hop on the bike and get ready for an exciting day ahead! Make your way toward Štanjel, a medieval village settled at the top of the hill. Enjoy its beautiful architecture and stunning views of the surrounding landscape. En route, enjoy the beautiful karst countryside, and make a stop at the Predjama Castle, a unique Renaissance castle built within a cave mouth.
Day 5 - Štanjel - Divača (through Lipica)
Distance: 35 km
Elevation gain: 400 m
Descent: 320 m
From Štanjel, the bike tour continues to Divača. On the way there, visit Lipica, the home of the world-famous stud farm and the Lipizzaner horses. If time allows, you can also stop at the UNESCO-enlisted Škocjan Caves, another fascinating underground cave system. Please note that the last guided tour starts at 3 PM (4 PM in the summer).
Day 6 - Divača - Piran
Distance: 53 km
Elevation gain: 490 m
Descent: 920 m
Ready for a swim in the sea? From Divača, ride through the beautiful countryside to the final destination of your Slovenia bike tour. The coastal city of Piran will inspire you with its old city center, narrow streets, and the iconic Tartini Square. End the day at one of its many lovely cafes or restaurants, gazing at the sunset.
Day 7 - Departure
After a week of exploring, it’s time to wrap up this unforgettable Slovenia bike tour. Seize the last moments and take your final dip in the Adriatic Sea before departure. Please let us know if you need any help with the return transfers. We are happy to assist you!
